# DuckDB

DuckDB is an analytical SQL database management system that can run in-process and be deployed from edge devices to servers. It reads and writes CSV, JSON, Parquet and Iceberg data locally or in object storage. Its Quack protocol, introduced in version 2.0, lets a DuckDB client access a remote DuckDB server. DuckDB is MIT-licensed and governed by the independent DuckDB Foundation.
