# Thanos

Thanos is an open-source project that extends Prometheus deployments with a global query view across multiple Prometheus servers and clusters. It stores metrics in object storage such as GCP, S3, Azure, Swift and Tencent COS for long-term retention. It supports the Prometheus Query API so tools such as Grafana can connect, and it can downsample historical data.
