# Vald

Vald is a distributed approximate nearest-neighbor dense vector search engine built on a cloud-native architecture. It uses the NGT algorithm and distributes, replicates and rebalances vector indexes across agents when an agent fails. It offers automatic backups to object storage or persistent volumes and a customizable Ingress/Egress filter for its gRPC interface.
