# Woodpecker CI

Woodpecker is a self-hosted CI/CD engine that runs each pipeline step in its own Docker container and lets a project define multiple workflows that can depend on each other. It was forked in 2019 from Drone 0.8 after Drone's license changed to a proprietary one, and it is developed as free, open-source community software. Extensions are added as plugins.
