Pricing at a glance

◇ Pricing model

Base monthly fee plus per-worker monthly fee; optional add-ons for HR and compliance services.

↻ Billing notes

OnPay publicly describes monthly pricing and says the first month is free. The pricing pages do not advertise annual billing, seat minimums, or discount programs for standard payroll customers, and the Help Center says student or other discounts are not offered. OnPay also says there is no fee for cancelling a pay run, and the per-employee fee applies only once per month.

Worth budgeting for
⚠  OnPay says it does not charge hidden fees, but sales tax may still apply to SaaS subscription payments in states where it is required. The Help Center also notes that workers included in at least one pay run during the billing period are counted for the per-employee fee, even if they had no entered hours or earnings.
⚠  Year-end forms are free to self-print, but the optional Direct Mail Service is billed separately at $10 per form. OnPay also notes that it does not charge extra for features such as tax filings and payments in multiple states, off-cycle runs, or run cancellations.

Pricing FAQ

OnPay says, "Get Your First Month Free," and also repeats that users can get one month free. The public pricing materials do not describe a longer trial period. The most explicit publicly disclosed promotional offer in the supplied documents is the first month free mention on the pricing page.

OnPay says there are no implementation or integration fees, and it also highlights free setup and data migration. The Help Center says you can expect free account setup and dedicated onboarding support. Based on the supplied documents, setup is included rather than sold as a separate charge.

The base fee includes payroll platform access, unlimited pay runs, tax filings and payments in all 50 states, payment methods like direct deposit, debit cards, or checks, employee online access, and live customer support. OnPay also states that many standard essentials, such as W-2s, 1099s, year-end filings, and multiple-state tax work, are included. The pricing model is designed to avoid surprise add-on charges for core payroll functions.
